Title: An Important Conversation
Fandom: Grey's Anatomy
Pairing: Callie/Arizona
Rating: PG
Summary: Just an extra scene at the end of 6x04, because Arizona dropped quite a bombshell on Mr Torres during her speech. Pure fluff.
Disclaimer: All characters belong to Shonda Rhimes. This is purely recreational.
Callie walked into her apartment and quietly shut the door behind her, throwing the lock. She set her bag down on the couch and started pulling her leather jacket off her shoulders. Cristina was on-call, so Callie had the apartment to herself.
She just couldn’t get the grin off of her face. For the first time in months, she and her father had sat down and had a perfectly normal conversation. No accusations were thrown, no angry words exchanged, just pleasant, normal words that ended with a hug and a kiss on the cheek before her father left to head to his hotel. She had debated calling Arizona, but her girlfriend had just come off of a double shift at the hospital and was probably getting some much-needed sleep.
Which is why she was surprised to walk into her bedroom to see Arizona lying down half-asleep on her bed. Brow wrinkled in confusion, she moved to the bed and gently pushed a blonde lock of hair away from Arizona’s closed eyes.
Arizona stirred and opened blue eyes bleary with sleep. “Hey, how’d it go with your dad?” she asked while rubbing her eyes, trying to wake herself up completely.
Callie smiled, “Really well, actually. I nearly burst into tears a couple times,” she lay a finger against Arizona’s lips as the blonde was about to interrupt, “but in a good way. You know, the ‘I’m so ridiculously happy right now’ cry. Especially after I heard what you said to him.”
Arizona’s eyes widened as she remembered her conversation with Mr Torres, looking out over the Seattle skyline. She had said something to him that she hadn’t even said to Callie yet. Something she had been bursting to say for weeks now, but had kept inside for fear of moving too fast, for fear of losing the best thing that had ever happened to her. She attempted to say something to Callie, but those big brown eyes staring at her just made her throat close up and she stayed silent.
“You really love me?” Now Callie was getting a little worried, Arizona was just sitting there, a vaguely stunned look on her face. “Ari?”
Seeing the first signs of doubt work their way into Callie’s eyes, Arizona snapped to attention and nodded so hard she nearly fell over. Callie breathed a sigh of relief and wrapped her arms around Arizona’s shoulders, pulling her in tight. “Really? Because that’s really serious.”
“Really, and I know.” Arizona pulled back to look Callie right in the eye. “Calliope Iphegenia Torres, I’m in love with you.” She swallowed convulsively, her heart clenching in the best way possible as Callie leaned forward and kissed her tenderly, like it was their first kiss all over again.
“I’m in love with you too, Arizona Robbins.”
*~*~*~*~*
Later, Callie lay back against the pillows and stroked the blonde hair that was spread across her collarbone. Arizona nearly purred and held her tighter around her waist. “Love you, Callie,” she murmured sleepily, the rhythmic scratching of Callie’s blunt nails against her scalp lulling her to sleep very quickly.
“Good night, Arizona,” and then after a gentle nudge to her ribs, “Love you, too.”
Silence reigned over the room for a few moments before Callie suddenly asked, “You’re sure you’re not a vegetarian, right?”

GLAD I DIDN'T. THANKS, SHONDA :'(]
