So, this is for anyone who watches BBC's Merlin. If I had to pinpoint my single favourite fic of that fandom (and nearly any fandom, in fact) I'd have to say this one:
Title: Before the Morning Watch: One Vision and Five Futures
Author: Deastar
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 19,000 (all parts)
Summary: Morgana tells Merlin about waking up from a dream of a future in which she’s pregnant. Each of the five parts posits a different father for Morgana’s child, and the future that goes along with that possibility.
Pairings include: Morgana/Gwen, Morgana/Merlin, Morgana/Lancelot, Morgana/Arthur, brief Morgana/Uther, background Gwen/Lancelot, Gwen/Arthur, Arthur/Merlin
I just love this fic. The characterization of Morgana is simply perfect, thrown into all these different scenarios and acting exactly how she should. Nearly every pairing is present, and even though Gwen/Morgana is usually my favourite, I have to say that the Merlin/Morgana in this is remarkable. The fact that they're both magic-users is taken to a point where they just fit together (also, the image of Morgana in armor is just plain hot)
So, yes. Go read it now. Do it. You don't even need to know a lot about Merlin; just that Arthur is kind-hearted if stubborn, Merlin is goofy and yet far too wise for his years, Gwen is gentle and yet made of steel, and Morgana is a beautiful enigma, perfectly capable of great evil if necessary.
